The Benefits Billing and Data Specialist will support employee benefit plan billing and union dues administration, accurately processing and reporting large volumes of time-sensitive confidential data and information.

  • Position is located in office (Ashburn, VA) 5days a week withhybrid potential - once fully trained
  • Pays $27 - $29 hourly

Essential Functions

  • Assist US, Canadian, and union representatives, and employees with employee benefit inquiries according to company procedures. Must be highly responsive to build relationships with unions and pension plan representatives to accurately process billing.
  • Process all monthly invoice payments, verifying the calculation of the monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and union benefit invoices. Complete all benefits billing allocations for accounting purposes.
  • Make all benefit eligibility changes monthly on union benefits vendor sites to coincide with all new hires, terminations and employees who have passed their benefits waiting period. Monitor benefits payments and accounts for any discrepancies, resolving billing issues.
  • Assist in processing benefits enrollments for US, Canada, and union locations. Support benefit plan open enrollment activities as assigned.
  • Work closely with supplemental insurance carriers and employees on the process of filing claims, collecting pertinent information as required for processing.
  • Participate in special employee benefit plan and payroll projects as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, Skills, and Other Requirements

  • High school diploma/certificate required. Preference for successful completion of a bachelor's degree in human resource management (or international equivalent) or another related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience working in a similar role in a matrixed, corporate, union environment within the US and Canada.
  • Must be highly responsive to support eligibility changes, benefit plan audits, open enrollments, claims processing, and other special projects as assigned.
  • Experience working with high volume of data with accuracy, and among cross-functional teams with minimal supervision, ability to juggle multiple tasks, and effectively prioritize assigned job duties to meet deadlines and objectives.
  • Ability to read and formulate action plans, schedule and keep accurate records.
  • Proven ability of observing existing conditions and deriving strengths and/or weaknesses of current state
  • Dynamic and positive attitude to support our culture and work environment and foster positive working relationships with others in the organization.
  • Beginner competence and experience with Windows operating system and Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word, and PowerPoint). Aptitude to learn complex HRIS systems (i.e., 321Forms, Micros, Hot Schedules, Vista HRMS, SuccessFactors, Academy Live, etc.)
