Job Summary:

Financial analysis / business partnering role providing financial guidance to the Americas Sales function within Farnell (Newark)/Avnet, aimed at enhancing sales and profitability. This involves comprehensive reporting, analysis, interpretation, and communication of financial and operational data to empower informed decision-making within the sales team.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Offer supportive guidance to the Sales team while fostering an environment of constructive challenge, encouraging innovative thinking and careful consideration of financial data. Collaborate with the Sales function to enhance profitability and inform decision-making by providing insightful analysis and interpretation of financial and operational data.

  • Provide timely and insightful financial analysis and recommendations to key internal customers based on analysis of key performance metrics.

  • Explain variances to budgets/forecast, communicate changes in trends, and identify areas for improvement.

  • Help Sales leaders understand their financial results.

    * Manage, manipulate, and interpret large datasets (in Excel and SQL) to develop financial reports for forecasting and trend reports. Provide summary narratives to sales and executive leadership.

  • Work with the Business Intelligence team to request information. Explore relevant tools available to share information and reporting.

  • Responds to information requests from internal customers and others as assigned.

  • Develop and distribute monthly and quarterly rereports.

  • Track and calculate customer rebates and work with Accounting team to accrue the expense.

  • Reviews and analyze reports to verify results.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Level Specifications:

  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with managing large datasets and large volumes of data.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial analysis principles, with a general understanding of industry practices.
  • Ability to work independently with judgment and discretion, receiving limited guidance for new assignments. Work may be reviewed for overall adequacy.

Work Experience:

  • Typically 3+ years with bachelor's or equivalent.


Education and Certification(s):

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained.


Distinguishing Characteristics:

  • Strong Excel skills are essential.

  • SQL experience is a plus but not required (candidate will have to learn SQL).

  • Familiarity with data and reporting systems is a plus.
