Job Summary
The College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University is looking to fill two (2) positions for Mental Health Specialists I, II, III to join our team. The individuals hired will be tasked with providing psychotherapy, including group and individual sessions, to juveniles who have been adjudicated for sex offenses. Additionally, responsibilities will include facilitating psychoeducational groups and conducting family therapy sessions.

This position will be located at Mt. Meigs, AL and is a one-year limited term appointment. Continuation of employment will be contingent upon availability of funding.

Essential Functions
  • The mental health specialist provides clinical services to adolescents with illegal sexual behavior and their families through a residential program.
  • The primary responsibilities are to help formulate individualized treatment plans and provide comprehensive psychological treatment services and provide individual, group, and family treatment services for juvenile offenders.
Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Level I – Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Professional Counseling or related field with no experience.

  • Level II – Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Professional Counseling or related field with 2 years of experience.

  • Level III - Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Professional Counseling or related field with 4 years of experience.

Must be licensed or licensed eligible by the State of Alabama in counseling, social work or psychology or eligible for licensure.

  • Master’s degree in recognized mental health field with an emphasis in psychological treatment of adolescents.
  • Experience with mental health issues with adolescents.
  • Experience in conducting psychological treatment with a juvenile offender population.
