Job Summary
Auburn University Libraries is seeking applicants for the position of Student Assistant to assist faculty and staff with daily, routine library operations.

Essential Functions
  • Process new documents
  • Shelve documents, microforms, and maps
  • Shelf-read documents, microforms, and maps
  • Type lists of withdrawn documents for offer to other depository libraries
  • Record microform use on spreadsheet
  • Screen gift books for duplication in AUL’s collection
  • Screen gift books for Better World Book acceptance
  • Maintain Adopt-a-Book shelves
  • Pack and ship books to Better World Books
Minimum Qualifications
Enrolled undergraduate student at Auburn University

  • Possess strong attention to detail
  • Interest in public service and delivery of quality customer service
  • Be willing to work as a team member while interacting with faculty, staff, and students
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Dependability, multi-tasking, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment are imperative
  • A commitment to an inclusive and diverse campus environment is essential

Physical Requirements:
  • Job frequently requires standing, walking, reaching, balancing, hearing, handling objects with hands, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
Pay Rate $7.50/hour
Work Hours Up to 6 hours per week depending on availability
